Dear Friends
It’s that Effortless Second Season!
Bronzed and relaxed subsequent to its time in the bask, David Gale’s Peachy Coochy Nites kicks off again on Thursday September 25th at Toynbee Studios.
Following a crowd-crushing First Season in which dozens of Coocheurs (see below) displayed poise, ingenuity, disdain, selfishness, charm and an intense desire for personal development, the merciless Peachy Coochy format is now imposed on a fresh succession of showoffs on a monthly basis.
An expert on human nature said this of the First Season :
“What struck me in particular was the sheer passion of the Coocheurs as David calls them. I saw bare souls and raw psychic contents.” (Susan, 27/06/08)
Another person, known for his odd, distant and disconnected manner said this:
“I went along and it was all right, actually.” (Hugh, 29/06/08)
This is what you get:
David Gale’s Peachy Coochy Nites
The projector projects 20 images for precisely 20 seconds each. The Coocheur (or Presenter) speaks for precisely twenty seconds per image. Randomness is discouraged but narrative linearity is not automatically esteemed.
David Gale, having launched a nationwide performance must-have, continues to curate this series of Peachy Coochy events at ArtsAdmin’s new, stylish yet reassuring Bar. Each event features six Coocheurs, or Presenters, drawn from many walks of life. Each Coocheur will compose a verbal response to 20 images of their choice. Each presentation lasts 6 minutes and 40 seconds. There will be gaps between presentations for drinking and light conversation.
David, something of a Black Belt in these matters, will both compere and present the vignettes that strike one at times as coterminous at other times as having very little in common. It is wrong, however, that David should talk about his qualities so let others comment on his stewardship:
“He seems to like to show off his French accent at times.”
” It is clear what has to be done and he does it.”
(Comments taken at random from The Peachy Coochy Visitors’ Book)
Peachy Coochy Nites subscribes to the the National Belief System and is therefore committed to the provision of a wide range of contributors such as the warden, the priest, the sculptor, the savant, the skateboarder, the silly billy.
The first Peachy Coochy in Season Two will be held, as usual, in the Bar at Toynbee Studios on Thursday September 25th at 7.30 pm. Tickets £5.00. Booking advised but walk up welcome.
